Precedent Studies

The following are a set of studies for different medical facilities I have chosen to analyze based on their concept, massing circulation, entrance and lighting. On my selection, Plans vary from cluster to radial forms and thus I consider them great examples towards the progressive design of my rehabilitation center project.

I will research Spa centers with the intent of inlcuding elements from this type of building along with the rehabilitation center.

Building Typology

I will be researching Rehabilitation center with included spa.I am researching this building typology because I want to explore more into depth the possibilities to engage spaces to create a sense of comfort for physical and mental wellness. I want this building to specialize in patient rehabilitation before and after surgery or any trauma.

My goals for working with this building type are to explore and experiment an innovative yet functional program to serve the people who need to get better after surgery to help regain capabilities lost due  to injury or illness.

At this point the elements that will be included in my building type are
  • Lobby
  • Reception
  • Offices
  • Baths
  • Consultation Rooms
  • Medical Rooms:
    • Exam Rooms
    • X-Ray
    • Lab

  • Fitness  area:
